Bwindi is situated in the Southwestern part of Uganda, on the border of the Great Rift Valley. Bwindi is habitat to more than 350 mountain gorillas which today are perhaps the most remarkable animals found on the African continent. In addition the park has approximately 346 bird species and more than 200 butterfly species. The main tourist activity within the Bwindi Forest is Gorilla trekking and there are 4 groups today available to be visited by tourists daily.

Itinerary

DAY 1Kampala – Bwindi Gorilla Park

Set off from Kampala by 8:00 am and drive to western Uganda. Break at the Equator to take some photographs and proceed west driving through the rolling verdant hills with long horned Ankole cattle, terraced farmlands and spectacular sceneries. Have lunch in Mbarara at Lake View Regency Hotel and late in the evening arrive in Bwindi Park. Gorilla Forest Camp, or Bwindi Lodge or Engagi Lodge.

DAY 2Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest

Following an early breakfast, have a briefing by the guides and then begin gorilla tracking within the dense Bwindi. Gorilla trekking may turn out to be tiring as the Bwindi has a very challenging landscape. It will necessitate you to move with a packed lunch plus drinking water and also wear very comfortable hiking boots or strong shoes and a weightless rain jacket because the weather in Bwindi is very unpredictable.
